Hi all...!
I think that it would be very interesting if we post here a benchmark of writing and reading speed. It could be a reference for all the DNS-313 users. And could serve to discover what can we get from this machine or if some one is using it under its possibilities.

I don't hear people saying anything on speeds by using wireless networks. I use a 802.11g network (54 Mbps). The connection isn't the best from router to pc, but pc says connection speed is 48 Mbps.
upload: 1,5 MB/s (12,1 Mbps)
download: 1,7 MB/s (14,4 Mbps)
This is really slow, just using 1/4 of the speed. I really don't want to go wired especially with my apple tv where I can stream movies. For High Def streams it must go faster. I'm thinking of updating my router to a 802.11n network (600 Mbps). Then I must get speeds like at least 18 MB/s.

The performance of my 313 is pathetic (to put it politely).
Gigabit ethernet connected to PCs via Gigabit , non blocking switch, I get 6MB/S read and around 3MB/S write (XP and Vista). Samsung 300GB disk formatted with NTFS. Firmware version 1.01b12.
System will also never auto power down the disk (even with LAN cable disconnected.
This is a product for Dlink to be truly ashamed of. How can they release a product with so many problems?

Some of these crazy German dudes say they were able to reach top speeds! I read numbers like 212MB/s, 80MB/s and 45MB/s. All these are way faster than what I read here on this forum.

Hardware tests indicate that maximum speeds of the dns-313 are around 19MB/s. So how are these guys able to get these crazy speeds? Hacking or something?
Well the 212MB/s seems bogus. Gigabit has a maximum speed of 125MB/s so how can you top that?

because those crazy german dudes use MBIT/s and not MBYTE/s as a measure of speed...
