Re: NTFS is inconsistent

I also get low speeds with a MacBook Pro and GigaBit network. The actual speed is 3-4MB/s over 802.11n.
To solve all your problems you could plug the drive to a Win system through USB and run scandisk and a complete defragmentation. The last should boost speed a bit

Re: NTFS is inconsistent

I'm trying to get instructions to change the file system from NTFS to ext2 and that is reported to fix speed and avoid fragmentation.
In the mean time try to update the firmware...

Re: NTFS is inconsistent

I'm facing this fuc***g NTFS problem too often ! Every 2-3 days, I have to connect the device thru USB to "CHKDSK /f" it; loosing some data each time !!!

The HD is a 500Gb Samsung Spinpoint 16Mb buffer, I have 4 desktops and a laptop connected to it, all running XP PRO with latest updates.

I've got the device with the v1.0 firmware, power management wasn't working and got NTFS inconsistent.
Upgraded to v1.01.06, power management worked fine but still NTFS problems.
Now I'm running v1.01.10, power management gave up again and still NTFS failing :-(
I'll try v1.01.11 soon...

I couldn't rely on this piece of sh*t anymore. I've already lost 2 desktop backups and my mp3 library was screwed.
I'm now forced to keep a copy of all my NAS files in several places on my network desktops to protect them !
What's the benefit of having a NAS in these conditions ???
