Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

I understand that current SW by the vendor(s) do not allow interoperation of PS3 and DNS-313.
Correct?
If you want off-the-self media storage for PS3, DNS-313 is not the right choice.
Correct?

The PS3 requires DLNA, not only UPNP.
The 313 doesn't offer this out of the box. For the DNS 323 there is an official Twonkymedia package that works.
For my 313 I used the Raidsonic package as it uses the very same ARM CPU. It works and playback was flawless during my three day trial run.
Still I am about to return my DNS 313 as I encountered so many problems in the last days
Unfortunately I do not have a solution to my DAAP and DLNA needs and will stick to an old Mac Mini for my setup.

I used your good guide of the Quick and dirty install of the Twonky package. But I couldn't really get the Raidsonic package to work since it couldn't index my media files, how did you manage it to find yours? With the "Linux ARM little endian glibc 2.2.5" it worked fine but I got some hickups when playing some Divx movies.
Thanks for the guide, really helpful for a Windows geek

Old topic, but who cares.
Just to let you know (you all must be desperate to hear this I exchanged my DNS-313 to a new unit, because old one just ... died.
Now there's MediaTomb + funplug stuff running in the box and I'm finding out what to do with my media files: so many container and encoding formats ...
I have mac mini (iTunes + XBMC), windows 2000, windows xp laptop (XBMC), ubuntu linux laptop (XBMC), hacked Xbox with XBMC, PS3 and Xbox360 and of course couple of Nokia smartphones _plus_ PSP to deal with...
In addition I do have Suse-linux server with master copies of my media files on a RAID-5 array, running licensed copy of TwonkyMedia.
If I started creating this mess today, I probably would plan beforehand
Anyway, thanks for funplug, that's the best thing since the sliced bread ...
