Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Hi Guys,
I'm super new to the wonderful world of embedded Linux, in fact Linux is super new to me. I'm a Windows Admin and have a reasonable level of IT skills (no expert though! )
I have just purchased a DNS-313 as I have moved away from having 4U File and Print servers humming away and burning shit loads of power at my house.
So I have the basics sorted now I just want to know what I can do with this thing. From what I have seen so far the features I'd like to see in the device are:-
File & Share Management GUI rather than the clunky way it's handled now.
Some sort of backup utility initiated from the device that will allow backup from a UNC rather than URL in GUI form
SecureFTP.
Does any of the Fun_plugs cover these sorts of tools? The reason I need GUI's is because I am a gimp at Linux command shell, I think I'd stuff the device if I have to try Linux Command Line to do everything.
I know this is real noob stuff but some help would be great.
PS:- Will this void warranty??
PPS;- I'd also like to access files via Internet...

BUMP for Help Please......
PS:- I have been trying to use the NAS for about a week now with official firmware which goes very much lacking in my opinion.
I can't nest users in more than one group therefore when trying to assign shares or map network drives in windows it isn't working correctly.
Another big issue I am having is with Outlook .pst files. It keeps corrupting them.
So any help getting a patched, much improved version of OS running on this would improve things dramatically.
PLEASE HELP
Willo

The only point I've seen concerns the ftpsecure. You should have a look at the Wiki for that, it explains lot. For the other points, I'd be intersted myself :-)
