Re: Compatible harddisks for NSA-220

I have 2 Hitachi Deskstar P7K500 HDP725050GLA360 500GB. Work fine, only they don't seem to have SMART.(while my FFP stick has!)

Re: Compatible harddisks for NSA-220

More compatibility info.
According to this page my HD753LJ should have raid 1 problems. I personally only have one drive so I can't comment this.

Re: Compatible harddisks for NSA-220

I have added single 2TB Western Digital WD20EADS drive to my NSA-220. So far working ok in kernel point of view.

Re: Compatible harddisks for NSA-220

I would love to see someone do 2x 2TB WD WD20EADS drives in a RAID1 configuration I wonder if this is possible?

Whatever you do, STAY AWAY from Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 drives (including the 3 listed above). That is unless you want to join me in my personal nightmare. Firmware bugs, corruption to the 'service area', lots of nasty stuff.

Tobias with the Zyxel Germany Support team has said it does work, but is not supported.

True that. I would suggest WD green or Samsung eco (if they work) drives. No need to use 7200rpm drives as they only make more noise, heat and take more power, but gain zero performance using them in a home user (low performance, comparing to the big corporate nas/san units) nas like NSA-220.

Sala are you using the WD 2TB in a RAID 1?

Is 2TB most likely going to be the maximum drive size you can do in a RAID 1 for NSA-220? Reason I ask is I don't want to buy 2 more new drives until I know it's the max I could do.

Re: Compatible harddisks for NSA-220

I wonder if somebody has testedthe NSA220 with the latest firmware, with the new 4k sector size WD drives. I just ordered the WD20EARS, without checking first. I guess I can always return it...

I use them as two separate drives. But I think that latest firmware has CONFIG_LBD enabled in kernel, so 2TB and more should be supported.
