route add

I have my DNS-343 on a closed network ip100.1.1.204 mask 255.255.0.0 gw 100.1.1.150 I need to allow communication to users outside closed network ip 192.168.50.0 mask 255.255.255.0 gw 100.1.1.203 to have access to NAS. How can I add routes to the NAS device? I have the fun_plug .05 installed

Re: route add

It get's tricky without a VPN. Because both 10.x.x.x and 192.168.x.x are considered private blocks (RFC1918), routes to them do not exist on the internet. So any normal packet handling method probably won't work.

Where you need to enter this stuff in is on your edge router. Not the NAS.

If your router can't handle static routes, then you need on that will --- or you need to set up a VPN.

I do the VPN thing all the time from work to home with 192.168.x.x addresses at each end. Works like a charm.
