Hi all
New member here... I'm looking to supplement a Buffalo Terastation Pro with a more modern NAS device, as my previous, aged Maxtor Shared Storage Plus drive just bit the bullet, leaving me with only one backup drive. The ShareCenter Shadow DNS-325 seems to be the best option for an affordable unit with the ability to add user scripts and full-fledged Bittorrent capability with RSS support. Hence, I'm eager to get one ordered.
However, finding any current info on availability seems difficult. The original announcement suggested that the DNS-325 would ship in March 2011:

It's March 1st now, and there's still no sign of the DNS-325 on the D-Link USA website, on Amazon.com, on PriceGrabber.com, or on Google Product Search. I've done quite a bit of hunting, but the only places I can find taking pre-orders are a couple of stores in Europe. I also can't find anywhere with a copy of the user manual available for viewing online. The closest I've been able to find is a copy of the brochure on Scribd:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/42895457/D-Li … ow-DNS-325
It seems odd that there'd be literally zero information and nobody accepting pre-orders, if the ShareCenter Shadow is really going to ship within the next four weeks. Does anybody know if the release date has slipped, and/or when and where the DNS-325 will be available in the US market?
Thanks!

We have never done pre-orders on NAS. Ship date is early April (it was pushed back one month) to distributors so that would mean april-may time frame for delivery to customers..

Thanks for the confirmation! Guess I'll just have to limp along without a backup NAS for a month or two, and pray... ;-)

Any idea of a pricepoint for the DNS-325?

It's in the press release I linked earlier:
-----
Price and Availability
ShareCenter DNS-325 will be available in March 2011 with a street price of $199.99
ShareCenter DNS-325-1TB will be available in March 2011 with a street price of $259.99
-----
Although as stated by Dlink, availability has slipped to April now...

At $200 for the bare enclosure, the Synology DS211j begins to look attractive based on the large file transfer performance numbers for the DNS-325 in the single online review I could find.

And I own 2 Dlink enclosures ...

You are comparing to very different types of speed tests. Both units are using marvell 1.2GHz processors and should get the same speed results.

It is certainly possible and I sincerely hope so since I am waiting for more reviews before purchasing an additional unit.
I will observe that feature implementation can reduce performance even when these features are not used. As an example, there is a body of evidence that this happens sometimes when a vendor's router firmware is replaced by the excellent dd-wrt firmware.

Just saw it for $220 on Amazon.com!
