Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Hello.
I'm new here, and i have a question.
My English is not super, so i hope you understand me :-).
I have a DNS-313 with Ax hardware revision. With a 500 gb WD Caviar Hard disk.
So, i wont to play music in WMP 11/12, but standard is that not possible. I read that can be possible with MediaTomb.
Can somebody explain me step by step how i can do that. The standard firmware is installed, is it possible to preserve that?
I have Linux Mint installed on a PC, i tought that is neceserry.
I have never changed something on the NAS. I think i must be connect with USB or is that wrong?
So step by step instructions could be hulpfull.
Thx!
(Sorry for bad english)

Not necessarily
First step: follow instruction http://www.shadowandy.net/2008/05/runni … ns-313.htm
Important, the article says you need to edit the fun_plug file using suitable text editor. On Windows, use notepad++ or notepad2. Not notepad.
Second step: log into your DNS-313 using telnet, then follow DNS323 wiki, specially chapters "The root user", "Basic configuration" and "Mediatomb UPnP Media Server" http://dns323.kood.org/howto:ffp
Third step: edit mediatomb startup script (/ffp/start/mediatomb.sh) and mediatomb config file (/ffp/var/mediatomb/config.xml) according to your special needs.
Default location for your media files is in /mnt/HD_a2/home/media (= [Volume_1]/home/media on Windows). You can change it in mediatomb startup script.
Note: Funplug does not replace your current firmware. It just add applications.
