Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

uninstalling fun_plug (cannot delete busybox3)

Hello all,

I was playing with telnet in fun_plug. In my vain attempt to diagnose email notification, I tried to re-format disks.

I thought I should delete contents of my hard drive to start fresh so I tried to remove the fun_plug as well. I was able to delete everything except the "busybox3" under "lnx_bin". I am using windows explorer (\\dns323\volume_1). It won't allow me to delete busybox3 - which shows up as directory (file folder) in windows explorer. "busybox3" shows up as a recursive directory structure (\\dns323\volume_1\lnx_bin\busybox3\busybox3\busybox3\......). I just cannot delete it.

Next, I tried to ftp to dns323 to delete lnx_bin/busybox3 but I couldn't even cd to lnx_bin - ftp session hangs up after a long wait time when I attempt to delete lnx_bin/busybox3 or just cd to lnx_bin

I am lost here. How can I delete "busybox3" under "lnx_bin"?

I appreciate everyones advise in this forum, thanks
Kilo

Re: uninstalling fun_plug (cannot delete busybox3)

No sure where the recursive directories come from, but a pretty safe way to uninstall a fun_plug has two steps: deactivate and remove.

While telnet is working, telnet your box and "move/rename" (not remove) the funplug directory (lnx_bin in your case):
"mv lnx_bin lnx_bin.inactive"

Then reboot, the funplug script won't find anything to start (since the directory is "gone"). You can now safely remove all the files and directories, since they are not in use.

Re: uninstalling fun_plug (cannot delete busybox3)

Firstly, thanks for your fun_plug versions.  I put in 0.4 and then realised that I should have put in 0.3.
So using telnet, I renamed/moved fun_plug.d to fun_plug.d.old and rebooted the box.

I then loaded in ver 0.3.  So now to get rid of fun_plug.d.old.
I have tried deleting it using rm -fr but get a permissions error saying that I am not root.

How do I go about removing the directory?  (BTW the box is only a week old! so I haven't had a chance to get my hands fully on it.)

more news .....
I have found out that if I go in and set a password for root, I am able to delete the fun_plug.d.old directory using rm -fr fun_plug.d.old.
So that answers my question.
