funplug for JBOD 323
Hi,
Noob Q: I have decided to use JBOD instead of RAID (pls don't ask why :-), and I suspect that the popular funplug from "utelnet-kit" will not work in its current format since it seems to be referring to HD #2 and I have only one volume. Are there any changes I should make to the funplug before uploading or should I use it "as-is"?
I also suspect that I will need the line "mkdir /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin/" from teh funplug only once. Should I edit it out of the funplug file after being run for the first time?

?? but it still refers to disk #2, doesn't it? So what should I do? Go ahead and use it "as-is"? Will it work in JBOD config?

fun_plug is a script - you can edit it to point to any disk you chose, any folder you choose.

:-) I know that (and I plan to use Notepad++ for that), but I read somewhere on the forum that while funplug can be on first disk, the apps should be on the second (in RAID). Have no clue why, but since I have only one disk, I thought that it may be a problem...

Like I said - you can edit it to point to any disk you choose, any folder you choose.
The script itself has to be on the first disk (otherwise it will not be invoked at boot), however, where you put the rest is at your discretion. I created (from scratch) my own script, it works fine with one disk or two disks - it doesn't care as long as it finds the files wherever you tell it.
Now - out of curosity - where on the forum did you find that the fun_plug should be on the first disk and the apps on the second (in RAID) - especially since, with RAID, there usually isn't a second disk?

Ah - OK, now all is clear - THANKS.
I found a post that was an answer to some funplug problem and the answer was something along "the xxx file should be on vol #2". I was not sure that the remark meant that the reason for that need was because funplug expected to find it there (easy to edit), or because funplug should point there because that's how things should be. IMO, the correct answer should have been something along "then edit funplug to point there" - just like you said, right? And yes, I know, sometimes I think too much :-)
Now if I could only have that 323 behave...
