Missing users?

Hi all, I noticed today while fiddling with my DNS-323 over the internet from work, that the users page lists one user (me), and that is correct. The groups page, has an FTP group I created a while ago, and 1 user in that group that doesn't appear in the user list. Is there a way for me to fully get rid of the user, and also the group that the non-existant user belongs to?

I AlSO noticed that now in the FTP menu, when you select the username for permissions, there is also an 'Anonymous' in there. I tried to setup a test folder with a single file, and 2 sub folders, and gave Anon the access, but when I ftp to the box, all I get is an empty directory.... what gives?

Re: Missing users?

Has no one else experienced this problem?

Re: Missing users?

could you telnet into it and delete the user that way?

Re: Missing users?

thanks for the reply fickle... I knew that, and was trying to determine the LOCATION of where the user info was kept.... I have telnet access.... Looking back, I poorly worded the earlier posts....

User info is located in /etc/passwd

I know JACK about *nix, but I took a crash course today from work.... telnet'd to my box at home (I know, dumb idea, but I have access to my router remotly, and opened the telnet port only for this, usually it is closed).... I picked up my Linux for dummies book, and looked at the common commands on the inside cover, and the "editing files using vi editor", and this is simple stuff....

thanks anyways guys smile
