Used Space

Using my DNS-323 (firmware 1.03) with just a single hard drive  - Seagate 750GB. No raid at all. Running xp pro.

My query or problem is that I deleted arround 350GB of data to start up a new back up archive, the files have been deleted, however I have not gained that back as any more free available space.

How can I gain that extra space back without reformating?

Am I missing something simple here?

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Used Space

Re: Used Space

do you have telnet enabled? i think by telnetting into the device, you would get some more clarity on this. maybe funplug offers defrag (dunno, just a guess)

Re: Used Space

Thanks, will try doing that later this week when I get some time.

Does any one know if funplug offers a defrag option?

Re: Used Space

Theoretically fun_plug can offer anything you want it to and/or have the skill to add.  fun_plug is just a script that the DNS-323 looks for and executes at boot up, you can edit it to add whatever functionality you want within the limits of the hardware and your programming skills.
