dns-323, mldonkey & ps3: post download conversion script

Hi All,

Has anyone written a script that checks that the format/encoding of media files on their dns-323 are supported by their media server/player (PS3 & Twonky in my case) and if not convert it to a usable format/encoding? I want to use it with mldonkey's 'file_completed_cmd = ""' option in downloads.ini to automatically convert media files to a usable format when downloads complete.

If not I'll try create one when I get a chance (not sure when that will be!) - I just wanted to check if anybody has done this already to save time.

Haydn.

I dont think there is enough spare processing power left on the dns-323 to do the conversion you want.  I wish you luck however!

Re: dns-323, mldonkey & ps3: post download conversion script

Some people have tried to transcode on the fly on the dns-323... this solution has to be better than that! ;P

I'll try and convert 1 file when I get a chance and see how long it takes... I'd only have 1 converting at a time and any others being being queued until completion. If it's too slow I may just mv all incompatible video files to a "toConvert" path and then run the script from a pc/laptop over nfs.
