D-Link.de's registration process is taking forever to email me my activation code.
Could someone put the b61 code up on rapidshare or some other place to download it from?
I'm sure many of us, including me, would appreciate it.

I got it using ftp without any registration:
ftp://ftp.dlink.de/dns/dns-323/driver_software/

This particular firmware update caused a reformat for me on load... for whatever that's worth.... [if you translate the german post, it does mention a change to disk format... perhaps this is what they were referring too...]

What version where you upgrading from? The regular 1.03?

Thanks Tilly for the heads up.
Just updated to b58 last night. My 1.5TB is awaiting the data. Now that the b61 is out I'll give it a blast and get back with an update.
So far 1.04 has given the box a new lease of life. I run Vista all over the gaff and it was a pain in the ring to get onto the box.
1.04 has that all sorted.
Regards, Grogg

Great, save me the trouble of logging in again. Google wasn't handling the registration so well while translating.
Thanks againg for the link.

I bought it new two days ago, came with firmware v1.02 installed. I added one 500gig drive, which it formatted, and then setup the box and tested streaming 5 movies to the old xbox. No issues, worked fine.
Updated to firmware v1.04 last night. No re-format required, I updated a few of the new/old server options and tested streaming again with same movies on the share. No issues.
I'll be adding a second WD 500gig tonight and setting it up for real production use over the next few days. So far it seems a better option than my HPMediavault and is far more hackable.

1.0.4b58.. (1.03 to 1.04b58 caused no reformat.. 58 to 61 did for me).
Very strange because from b58 to b61 my DNS-323 donīt needed and donīt wanted a reformat!

Tilly or others,
I have a DNS-323 with 1.03 released firmware (from dlink USA site). So far I hear 2 things: that it will reformat my drives if I update, and that it will not format my drives if I update. Right now I just have 2 separate drives, no raid or JBOD. Can anyone tell me if I should be ok to upgrade?

As stated on the D-Link forums, users using a US Device should wait for the released firmware and the "German" site firmware will be getting an update to b61 firmware as well. Reasons to not jump the gun on updating?
Change log of b61 > b63
11/26/2007 1.Raid : fixed upgrading from a older f/w to the latest 1.04 will request to reformat hard drives issue.
11/27/2007 1.Password courrupted : user's password will get corrupted after changing.
Suggest waiting for official US release.

Thanks Dlink

Bloody Hell!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just updated my device today 18:01 from Version 1.03 and guess what?
That slutty piece of shit wants to reformat my drives. Well I have backup, but it will take ages...
Where can I get this Version 1.04b63?
I want to give it a try before doing the reformat. Hope it will also work after the b61 was installed, but I bet it will not :-(((
This is realy the worst piece of Raid 1 Hardware I've ever seen in my whole life (...and I've seen a lot!)

At the moment we are rolling out alot of changes and I would like them to all be simultaneous including the firmware. New Manual/QIG will be updated. New online Support emulator as well as the new firmware. If all goes well 1.04 and other documentation changes may be ready by next week.

B63 is not released yet. You may want to downgrade back to 1.03 and see if it is still requesting a format and wait for the official release hopefully next week.

In Raid-1. I did a reformat from Vers. 104.b38 to b55, than again to b57 and again to b58.
Now after upgrade to b61 i use for testing the drives as standard - two seperate volumes.

Itīs a MUST to make backups allways before a firmware change!

i got the dns-323 this past monday. updated to the b61. can't seem to finish scanning my music folder for itunes server though. can a very large music library screw up the server refresh? i can't quite figure out what's going on. any ideas?
also i'm wondering if there are open firmwares availalbe, sorta like openslug or something rather? it seems to be far more productive to be open source than from the mfgr themselves, with all due respect to d-link here.

The Dlink product very buggy. Got it with version 1.03. It looks lik RAID1 is a problem for most people this includes me.
I have found that formatting the drives into a Raid1 setup did not work. Got to 94% and did nothing after that. I also found that formatting the drives separately helped but it was also buggy.
I found the following to fix my RAID 1 Issue:
a) Erase 2 drives before starting using SATA to USB disk encloser.
1. Power up the unit without any drives installed.
2. Run the Web Page Network Setup Wizard.
3. Make sure to fill out all the details (no blanks) eg: DNS1, DNS2.
4. Finish and reboot.
5. After reboot go into tools->system change setting on Config Inactivity Timer = 90min
6. Shutdown the Unit
7. Insert the two drives into the DNS-323
8. Power Up.
9. When you open the web page the unit will ask to format the drive.
10. Select RAID1 and everything will work 100%.
Looks like Dlink still have some work to do.
I have upgraded to dns-323_fw_reva1_v104b61_20071115.zip and have the same results.
Hope that Dlink support read this.

With the new firmware I also found the following problems:
1. DayLight Savings Does Not work using +9.5 Darwin and +10 Sydney time zone.
1a US (does NOT forward 1h)
2b EU (does NOT forward 1h)
2. When I turned off HDD power saving my RAID1 just broken into two volumes. It also had problems fixing had to go back to my last 10 steps.
3. After upgrade from 1.03 to 1.04b61 when logging in the webpage asked me to reformat my working RAID1.

You do realise that the 'b' in 1.04b63 stands for beta? As in: my contain bugs?
If you are not prepared to face such issues, simply do not use beta firmware.
There are stable versions after all.
