Firmware 1.02 still problem copy large amounts of files

I've just upgraded to firmware 1.02, I try to copy a DVD-rom with 2404 pictures in 46 diffrent folders to my DNS-323 (raid1, ext2). After the copy i have 1904 pictures in 46 diffrent folders?? Some pictures is duplicates with the exactly same filename.

About the firmware 1.02 (from d-link US-site):

¤ Resolved issues with transfer of a large amount of files.

obviously still som problems to solve..?

When i try to delete all the files, there are 7 folders that are impossible to delete. Any1 with some ideas how to delete them?

Re: Firmware 1.02 still problem copy large amounts of files

are you using ext3 or ext2?  I had the same problem, but after I reformatted to ext2, everything works fine.  I think its a function of ext3, and not really 1.02.

That said, I have an issue using MAC OS X with this:  sometimes using the 3-column view in finder, viewing the directories on the DNS yields "corrupt views".  The files themselves are fine, but finder start showing duplicated foldernames and things like that ... after unmounting and remounting the DNS in finder, everything clears right up.  Weird.

Re: Firmware 1.02 still problem copy large amounts of files

I think that the problem you described is linked to errors on ext2 FS.
Even after clean reformatting the drives the e2fsck reported incorrect free space count and later after copying large amount of files (total 150GBytes, containing a couple of  15 GBytes images) there was again a minor inode problem.
When DNS323 starts it complains about the drives being unmounted uncleanly, which in my view is a problem in the 1.02 firmware and may contribute to the FS errors. This would also explain ext3 problems, the journal files were corrupt and caused havoc plus I have recently caught some seg faults, which would again result in the FS corruption.

Before this is fixed we have no choice but to run the e2fsck manually and wait in vain.....

Re: Firmware 1.02 still problem copy large amounts of files

How does one get to the shell (please note; I'm a somewhat neophyte when it comes to this) to run e2fsck?  (I don't even know what switches to use with e2fsck).....

I'm the kind of guy that looks at top and sees "fun_plug" and I think, hmmmmmm..... I have no clue..... I've got a steep learning curve...

Thanks

Hello Danne:
Did you ever reformat your hard drive with ext2??? I have around 6,000 mp2 files on my 323, it work fine for me.

Re: Firmware 1.02 still problem copy large amounts of files

i had the exact same problem (it has many variations... i had a repro case where i only needed to copy 58 files, and *poof* all of them were duplicated) when I had EXT3 disks, and then upgraded to 1.02.

formatting to EXT2 solved the problem for me.
