Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.
You are not logged in.
My DSM-G600 is unmodified, sits on my network with a static IP and is essentially in open mode.
I deleted a bunch of files and folders this morning. But when I tried to delete several of the files, up pops an error saying that the file was in use and I needed to close the application.
I rebooted the PC.
Tried another PC.
Rebooted the G600
US Firmware 1.02 Dated 10/19/2006
yet the problem persists. I can not delete the files.
There are no linux pcs in the house. All I have is windows XP and Vista (Virus Infestation Spyware Trojans Adware)
Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?
Thanks!

Install telnet to your DSM-G600 and delete them over telnet session.
You may also run check disk and check permissions

I will have to research the telnet thing. The vista pc's dont seem to have a telnet client, so that forces me back to an older notebook to work. I did run the DSM-G600's disk check with the fix option. It reported no problems. Is there a simple means to telnet? Or is the installation of the fun plug the only way?

Well, the fun_plug is the easy way to get telnet working. I had the same problem as you describe several times. Deleting the files through telnet solved it for me. Just follow the guide on this page to add fun_plug and then enable telnet.
And you don't need to use an old notebook, just download a free telnet client, for example this one:
http://www.ayera.com/teraterm/
works fine on Vista

putty is probably the best ssh/telnet client out there. Search for putty on google.
