Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Firmware, Debian and data ...

Hello,

I'm totally noob with DNS 323 as I just order one, and didn't received it yet ...

I'll get 2x 500Go (WD) with it.

I'd like to run debian, but not necessarily on the first weeks.

So here's what I'd like to do, plz tell me if it's a bad idea, or impossible :

1° get the NAS and put the last firmware
2° use the 2 disk as :
- 1x 100Go in RAID 1
- the rest of both disks in JBOD
with Dlink firmare, no modification.

3° put data, and use it to get used to it ...

4° install debian and chroot to it (funplug or so, not native debian ...)

Will I need to reformat / loose data ? Or is debian chrooting safe for volumes and data ?

Thanks a lot
