Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Ok so I've just spent the last 2 hours cursing my friends DNS-323 (I have one also) as his just wouldn't boot fun_plug 0.3 & 0.4. Finally after much assing around I tried copying it to Volume_2, which it then booted, and worked.
Another friend dug around via telnet and explained it may have something to do with the mounting process - either way there's a bug somewhere in how the DNS-323 boots fun_plug in both 1.03, 1.04 with the config of 2 seperate drives setup.
My experience of linux/busybox/telnet is still in its early stages.

My guess is that your friend first added only one HDD in his DNS323 and then added another one? Because somehow /mnt/HD_b2 has become Volume_1 and /mnt/HD_a2 has become Volume_2 and that usually happens when you add the first HDD to the "wrong" slot on the DNS323 back.
(the DNS323 looks for fun_plug in /mnt/HD_a2)
