Goodaye,
Recently installed the DNS-323 onto an XP network. Works fine apart from being unable to map the NAS drive after a couple of days but checked this forum and I've resolved that issue.
My remaining problem is that the drives in the DNS (2 x 500 GB 'cuda's 7200.11 as Raid 1) are constantly spinning up (every 5 minutes or so) even when there is no access going on.
I've read the Wiki (known issues ) and it mentions that this may be caused by having something in the lp print queue. This is possible as I initially tried to hook our HP 2710 printer (all-in-one type) to the DNS 323's USB port at the back but gave up after a while 'cause I couldn't get the scanner to work through the USB (HP printer is now back on the network). So it's feasible that there is something in the lp queue.
I've got firmware 1.4 for the DNS unit.
The solution offered in the wiki was a bit over my head as I'm unix-ignorant. Can any kind soul spell out what I need to do to check and clear the lp printer queue in steps that a non-unix person can understand.
Alternatively there may be another reason for the constant spin-up. I'm all ears.
Thanks in advance,
Plugger

If you're running firmware 1.04 - go into the status page and you'll see a button that clears the print queue.
As far as using the 2710 with the DNS-323 - remember it's a print server, not a scanner server - and HP AIO's can be quite tricky to get working on a network, even with HP's print servers, so if you get it to print you're ahead of the curve.

Goodaye,
Thanks for the reply. Double checking I found I actually had 1.3 firmware, not 1.4. After upgrading I pushed the button you indicated to clear the print queue and the problem appears solved.
Many thanks,
Cheers,
