Anyone with success with USB Audio?

Hi Folks,

I am trying to get usb-audio running on my DNS323 and I have had limited success.
I am able to play ONE song and mpc hangs there after.
Killing the process wouldn't work and I have to reboot the DNS 323 before I can start over again.

The kernel modules for alsa are from http://dev.skcserver.de/dns323/modules/
I am using fun_plug v0.4 with the following startup script.

~~~~~~~~
mkdir /opt
mount --bind /mnt/HD_a2/opt /opt
export PATH=/opt/bin:/opt/sbin:${PATH}
mknod /dev/dsp c 14 3
chmod 777 /dev/dsp
mknod /dev/mixer c 14 0
chmod 777 /dev/mixer
insmod /root/modules/kernel/sound/soundcore.ko
insmod /root/modules/kernel/sound/core/snd-page-alloc.ko
insmod /root/modules/kernel/sound/core/snd.ko
insmod /root/modules/kernel/sound/core/snd-timer.ko
insmod /root/modules/kernel/sound/core/seq/snd-seq-device.ko
insmod /root/modules/kernel/sound/core/snd-pcm.ko
insmod /root/modules/kernel/sound/core/snd-rawmidi.ko
insmod /root/modules/kernel/sound/usb/snd-usb-lib.ko
insmod /root/modules/kernel/sound/usb/snd-usb-audio.ko
insmod /root/modules/kernel/sound/core/oss/snd-mixer-oss.ko
insmod /root/modules/kernel/sound/core/oss/snd-pcm-oss.ko
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have used madplay and mpd from the optware feed.
madplay and mpd will both hang after it has finished playing the first song.
mpd does not write anything to the log file or error log.
it just hangs.

I have tried mp3blaster and moc too. moc segfaults and and mp3blaster does not seems to accept and keyboard inputs.

Anyone with an alternate set of kernel modules or mp3 player for me to try?

Re: Anyone with success with USB Audio?

Hey JRT,

any success with the USB-Audio device?
I have the same problem,
after i write something to the Audiodevice (cat löschmich.au > /dev/dsp), the device die.
I can't get it back to work and i also can't find any error's.

Does anybody know something to Fix this?

Re: Anyone with success with USB Audio?

I got a Turtle Beach USB card to work but I am getting a hissing sound and the MPD hangs. Would anyone share how to use ALSA drivers instead of the OSS drivers? Could that be a solution to the problem?
