Hello,
I am not sure how ambitions this goal is, but I really like to clean up a lot of the scripts in DNS-323 that is causing all sorts of problems which are easily avoidable. Some of this (e.g. /etc/hotplug/{satamount,sataumount} cannot be patched using fun_plug.
Unfortunately I work off a Windows box but I worked out a way to manipulate the cram file system which holds all these scripts. I got the /image.cfs file and did a simple rebuild test:
[dns323] cramfsck -x image image.cfs warning: old cramfs format [dns323] mkcramfs image image.new warning: gids truncated to 8 bits (this may be a security concern) [dns323] ls -l image.cfs image.new -rwx------+ 1 jayas None 5644288 Mar 15 01:50 image.cfs -rwx------+ 1 jayas None 5644288 Mar 15 01:53 image.new [dns323] cmp image.cfs image.new image.cfs image.new differ: char 6, line 1
It looks like I can rebuild the image.cfs from the extracted files to produce a new image of the same size, but there are bytes in the new image that is different from the old one.
Can anyone who knows about cramfs (I am looking into this for the first time) comment on what differences are significant? By the way the files extracted from image.cfs and image.new are identical. I am only concerned that cramfs version etc that is stored in the header may cause DNS-323 not to accept my build of image.cfs and I don't want to brick my DNS-323 this way.
Thanks in advance.
