Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Markus, Thanks again!
CPU load on CH3SNAS for ogg decoding has dropped significantly from 55% to 10% with the Tremor code. Super!

Hi,
thanks for providing the updated SVN-version. Seems to be much more stable than the previous version 1696 that I had installed...
I have posted the bugs that I found so far at the developers feedback forum...
1. "compilation directory"-feature is not working anymore (worked from time to time after full rescanning in 1696)
2. web frontend has some issues when saving to config-file
If you find additional bugs, you can add your input here
http://forums.fireflymediaserver.org/vi … php?t=7914
Keep up the good work...

I have set the Server Name to "DNS-323" but it still shows up as "CH3SNAS" in iTunes. When I click it and let it load it changes to "DNS-323" though. Not much trouble there but still annoying.

What would need to be done to only install FLAC flac-1.2.1-1.tgz and libid3tag-0.15.1b-2.tgz using this method? I read on this post that if you dont download all of the files it will give you errors. I only have MP3 and FLAC files.
Thanks

I have this installed and appears to be working ok. But it never completes a Full Scan the first time and crashes. When I restart it says 0 files scanned, so I have to restart the scan again and it crashes after a while. I can see it working in the web interface as it gets up to around 2776 files scanned but never past that.
I have enabled the logging in the conf file but nothing logs to /var/log
Is it logging to somewhere else or am I flying blind?
Edit: looks like it doesn't like one file. Must be a firefly problem:

Ready to update Firefly to the latest svn? I'm sure you are. Everything is done with fonz build utilities and of course we are using tremor to decode ogg files. You can download all this stuff here: http://files.hesse-n.com/ch3snas/ Just make sure to install all the files, otherwise Firefly will crash...
Bye,
Markus
Installed the Firefly client on my XP and Vista machines then installed the server per instruction found at the link. I'm pleased to report all are working fine.
Thank you for creating the packages, providing the files and instruction.

I removed the offending file and each time it found another with the same problem.
I couldn't solve it, so gave up.

Question:
Why would one choose to install Firefly using the instructions from this thread rather than the instructions on the wiki: http://dns323.kood.org/howto:firefly

Hi, I'm just setting up a DNS-321 and have installed fun_plug and all the packages Delekhan links to at the beginning of the thread. Everything seemed to install well, but now that I have mt_daap installed I cannot authenticate with the web interface or find a log file to see what is happening. If I go to /var/log all I see in there is: btmp lastlog samba wtmp.
Is that where I should be looking? I have the following in my mt_daap.conf:
logfile = /var/log/mt-daapd.log
Doing a ps seems to indicate mt_daap is running:
1800 root /ffp/sbin/mt-daapd
1801 root /ffp/sbin/mt-daapd
1803 root /ffp/sbin/mt-daapd
1806 root /ffp/sbin/mt-daapd
I edited the mt-daap.conf to set my music library path, scan interval, and password via Windows using Notepad++ and I wonder if that might have had some negative effect, but I don't know.
If I try to go to the web interface in a browser I get prompted to authenticate, so I enter the user name of admin and the password I set but I always get denied (I tripple checked case, spelling, etc). I also tried the default password of mt_daap just in case my file wasn't be used or something but still had no luck.
Anyone got any ideas on what might be wrong or how I could troubleshoot this? I'm only semi-literate with Linux, but have some basic skills and was a SCO UNIX admin in a past life and mostly work with Windows these days.
Edit: re-reading the firast post in this thread I see I may have overlooked the very first step, "install sqlite3 from fonz". So if I need to do that then obviously that could be the root of my problem. But where do I get sqlite3? Do I need a particular version? Anyone got a link? Thanks!

sqlite is available at http://www.inreto.de/dns323/fun-plug/0. … tml#sqlite

Thanks, I got that installed but still am getting no log. I uninstalled mt_daap and reinstalled it and now when I try to edit mt_daap.conf I cannot save my changes - access is denied either using TextPad or vi in fun_plug. Also I still get no log.
Any ideas?
I'm tempted to start over but don't really want to. Thanks!
Edit: Got it working! Woo-hoo! Not sure exactly what did it but thanks for all the advice!

I'm having trouble using this Firefly version with the latest Java Firefly Client.
The client does some parsing of the SVN version, return by server:port/rsp/info and it is expecting SVN-1735 from this version, however if you try to get this info from this firefly version it returns "1.2-pre1".
Does anyone have an resolution for this? Other than to drop to a lower firefly version? I'd really like to use the nice funpkg version here. Could somebody post a link to the previous 16** version that's mentioned?
Thanks

I had installed this on my DNS-321 a while ago and everything was great until recently when I installed the latest firmware (1.03). Now mt-daapd stops at the same place in a scan. Any ideas on what is causing this and what I should do? Is the "database disk image" mentioned the firefly database? Could I remove it and start from scratch?
Here is the firefly log from startup:

I think a had a similar problem in the past, which I fixed by deleting the database (like you wrote it). It should be /ffp/etc/songs3.db or something like this.
One more thing for me to say. I do not use my CH3SNAS any more - replaced it with an opensolaris SS4200. So any development on this port has basically stopped, because now I mount my music through an iSCSI share.
