Convert from ext2 to ext3

Is it possible to convert from ext2 to ext3 without reformat or loosing the data?

Main reason I want to do this is because ext2 seems to support only file paths/names in iso-8859-1 charset, while I need to use iso-8859-2 charset (precisely serbian latin). Or utf-8, for that matter.
Is this even possible?

Re: Convert from ext2 to ext3

The EXT2 filesystem doesn't imply any character set for the file names. In fact, you can use any character except for / (slash) and null, and the file system will blindly accept it.

Pointless to convert to Ext3 only big difference is that Ext3 is journaling.

To get another charset working is purely an app problem.

Re: Convert from ext2 to ext3

Many thanks for the info frodo - I never worked with Linux file systems thus was obviously confused with several pages that come up after net searching. I actually thought this has something to do with file system instead of non-Unicode application I was using sad - which converted serbian latin characters into english.
