Making Quotas work?

Hi there, had a quick search anc can't find anything obvious here so.....

I wish to apply quotas (to stop my daughter hoovering up available disk space before I get to it!). I've used the settings on the Advanced\Quotas tab for User quotas, set some Group Quotas (guess they apply top-level values) and the Quota Status shows as "started". I can now see quotas cutting in.

Can anyone explain:
a) The difference between the values the DNS-323 sees and the disk space Windows thinks is being used?
eg. For one share, DNS-323 thinks 216MB is used, Windows thinks 711MB and DOS thinks 745MB
So far, I'm working by trial and error to set limits!

b) The interaction between Group and User Quotas?
Membership of some users overlaps between different Groups,

T.I.A.

Re: Making Quotas work?

Ok, maybe this is a little obscure, or perhaps no one here bothers to set quotas?

I've now acquired some wifi music gear and am loading my DNS-323 with music. Pretty soon I'm going to need to set quotas to preserve some space for other important files.

Can anyone else advise:
- If you have multiple users set up to use your DNS-323?
- If you're using quotas?

Thanks, Colin
