DSM-G600, DNS-3xx and NSA-220 Hack Forum

In some cases it´s very helpful connecting to your DNS-313 with a serial connection. E.g. to explore, what happens at boot time, when nothing else goes right.

Here is the pict. of PCB DNS-313 bottom side. (yes, i have seen better pictures...)



The serial port is top-right from the IC Storlink SL5312, seen as 4 small solderig pads. Pin 1 is at left (square pad).

Pin 1 - Vcc 3,3V (not needed)
Pin 2 - TxD - must connect to pin 6 of the data cable
Pin 3 - RxD - must connect to pin 7 of the data cable
Pin 4 - GND - must connect to pin 8 of the data cable

For connection to the PC we need an simple USB data cable e.g. for the Nokia handy 3100/3120/...6100/...
It should be compatible with Nokia´s CA-42 data cable.
Having an built-in 3,3V-serial-to-USB-converter. Costs less than 5,-€, have a look at ebay...
Also you can use a DKU-5-compatible Cable for the PC´s serial port. 

- Cut the cable behind the connector to plug into the handy.
- find out, whose coloured wires goes to the pins 6, 7 and 8. of the handy-connector:

The cable may have some more wires we don´t need in this case.

Device drivers for Win are on the delivered CD, drivers for Linux don´t needed. Seems, Linux  (e.g. Debian and SuSE) knows this device by default.

Your console programm must set to: 19200-8-n-1-Xon/Xoff
