Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Hi,
First of all, i am new in DNS-323 ( still waiting for delivery ) and have a few questions about filesystems.
I am a realy windows user so unfamiliar with unix FS.
I read that the DNS supports both ext2 and ext3 but the ext3 has been removed in latest firmware.
But when i compare ext2 with for example reiserfs 4 there is a huge performance difference. Reiserfs seems to be much more interesting
Is there a way to use this kind of filesystem on the DNS 323?
Thanx

Reiserfs 4 is only for 2.6 kernel as I know, you can try reiserfs 3. About performance, if you have a huge hard disks with huge partition's then xfs will do better.
And of course none of them is supported by official firmware but it me be able to compile a modules for them.

I purchased the new Hitachi 1TB disks. Is there somewhere a description on how to install the reiserfs3 and xfs file system ?
Thanx

Does anybody know how to help me with xfs support on dns 323?

well I think using xfs would be rather tricky at the moment... since it's not built into the kernel you would have to setup a very small partition with ext2/ext3 with the fun_plug and the compiled xfs module on it. then the fun plug would have to insmod the xfs driver and afterwards you need to mount the partition (which would be xfs formatted) of your drive / raid array...
