1 - Is there any Positive/Negative feedback out there on the newest 1.05 Firmware?
I am debating if I should upgrade... I mean if is not broken dont try to fix it... I am using 1.03 and it works "ok" for me... samba is a bit boken but I dont use samba...
2 - I havent been able to get Printing working from my Fedora box to the DNS-323... Is there a how to out there?
I mean I dont think is that complicated... I plug in my Epson 320 to the DNS and than set LPD/LPR printing to print to lp...

Ummm - how should I answer you?
Point out that there is a search function - or - do the search(es) and post links to the threads?
I mean how hard can it be? Click search, enter 1.05 as the keyword, click submit and bam!!! - three pages of posts returned, all sorts of good and bad stuff that people have discovered.
Try it - and that way you don't get just what U think will interest you, you get to choose for yourself - read one or read all.![]()
Oh - printing - that's pretty easy to do - and covered in the forum, search is your friend - if you search for keyword printing and author fordem - you're guaranteed to find a thread with step be step instructions. I don't guarantee it'll work for you though.

Well thanks for your very constructive and helpful search reminder...
I did get my printer working using the smb protocol.
Now I am undecided if I should upgrade my firmware...
Thanks!

You're welcome - sometimes search engines give usable results if you don't how to choose the keywords.
As for the firmware - take the plunge - what have you got to lose?
I would upgrade - well - make that I already did. I waited long enough for a few of the early adopters to use the firmware off of the Singapore site and report their results, by that time DLink USA had posted it and that's what I used.
The new firmware is not perfect but it does fix a number of issues - it appears to have improved disk failure detection routines, I have actually seen an amber disk failure LED, something which I could not force in a simulation on 1.03, and it also introduces (or reintroduces) jumbo frame, which could deliver as much as an additional 50% read throughput if the circumstances are right - you know the planets all line up just so
- I've seen in excess of 30 MB/sec in testing, although I'm not certain what that would translate to in real world usage.
Also - I don't know how important it is to you - there is a bit torrent implementation, not exactly my cup of tea - I like to know where I'm getting my stuff from, but, that's just me.
