Can't Get Root
Hey guys, I just had to reinstall funplug today (don't ask why) and I ran into a little bitty problem. Everything was going great but after I rebooted the DNS-323 box, I can't get root. I can try getting into root but all the passwords fail.
pfernandez@MrPinchy:~/HD_a2$ grep root /etc/shadow
root:x:14022:0:99999:7:::
It looks to me like the account might be locked?
Any ideas?

It sureYou have a root entry in shadow?!?
I dont have a root entry in shadow. I have it in passwd...
/etc # cat passwd|grep root
root:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX1:0:0:Linux User,,,:/home/root:/bin/sh
/etc #
I replace the hash with X 
But anyways thats odd...
Try to cat your passwd flile
