Looks like Dlink put out a new firmware for this unit. In a FW1.04 setup, can one pop both drives out, upgrade the firmware, then just pop the drives back in and everything should work as it did before the upgrade right? Currently, unit is setup as standard.

I've backed up the contents of my DNS-323 to my external USB disk. For the FW upgrade from 1.04b84 to 1.05b28 I didn't even remove the drives. No reformatting was necessary. User accounts remain existent but I probably you'll have to configure the shares again (I can't remember exactly).
