Memeo product key

I came across this bit of information here after following a link from the D-Link website.

SPECIAL NOTE TO D-LINK CUSTOMERS

If you received a free copy of Memeo AutoBackup with the purchase of a D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure and are experiencing issues with entering your product key into the software, please upgrade to the latest version of Memeo AutoBackup by selecting "Download Free"

Now - I don't recall receiving a product key with my DNS-323 - so I'd like to know, did any of you get one with yours ?

Re: Memeo product key

Thank you much - I never used the CD so I didn't know it was there.

Re: Memeo product key

mihar is right.

I have just received to my work, a DNS-323 throught the post at the knock down price of 140 Pounds Sterling.  It is clearly for the French market as everything is in French (yes).

There is one CD.  On the back of the paper packet it gives the memeo autobackup software serial number.  I don’t know if I should publish this.

From my memory, I tried this out on one of my first DNS-323s, but the programme was time limited - so I ditched it.

Now I use Viceversa.  It's good but I have not managed to sort out the scheduling.

Re: Memeo product key

Hmmm, never paid much attention to this before.  I just did the install and the key on the back of my cd worked. It asked for an email address.  Not sure if they track the key/email.

Ok. I should have remembered rule #1.  Don't install the freebies that come with a product. roll

Lol

What happened? The freebie software screwed up your system?

Just for fun, i tried installing the product... Used it for like 30mins and then uninstall...

Though it works like it's supposed too... It feels "cheap" and clunky to say the least... I'd rather stick with my copy and paste method... At least if something goes wrong, i know who's responsible....

Re: Memeo product key

Well - reason I asked is that I got an email (from DLink) about an upgrade to Memeo 2.0, which seemed to have reasonable reviews, so I installed it - it seems to do what it says, although it seems to be more of a "sync" application rather than backup as I understand it (it does allow multiple versions, so I don't see that as a problem, just pointing it out because it's not your scheduled backup type thing.)

Two things I'm not happy with - it does not backup from network drives and it does not install on Server 2003 (although it claims it'll run on Server 2000), I have to check see if there is a version that runs on my servers.

dang... i registered my product ages ago and never received any such emails... I don't even get promotional emails...

you must be one of their highly valued customers...

anyways, during the 30mins i had fiddling around with it, i do recall a scheduled backup option... And this was based on the original version that came with the 323... I'm not too sure about the updated version though....

I Played with it for about 30 minutes also.   That was enough time to crash the same box that I had thrashed the living buhjeebeeze out of EXT3 with on my DNS-323 w/1.05 for weeks on end.  Started a complete backup and after about 10 minutes, the mobo did a reset like as if someone hit the reset button.  This system has been rock solid for a long long long time.  Didn't really mess anything up, but it sure didn't provide me with anything I needed.  Just more bloat for Winbloats.  Also found that it would only back up my Chmm drive.  Now that it is off the box, no more problems.  Hence; therefore; thus; my continuation of a personal policy of not installing the courtesy fluffware.

Cheers,
bspvette
