BT client in FW 1.05 - any tricks to boost the d/l speed?

I want to use the BT client in the FW 1.05, but i am only getting minimal speed, no more then 18kb/s. sometimes much less, around 1 or 2 kb only,

I normally get around 100kb/s per task using bitcomet on my desktop.

I have forward the port to the NAS already. but i dunno what is holding the speed?

could anyone help me out??

thx in advance!

Re: BT client in FW 1.05 - any tricks to boost the d/l speed?

You've probably already done this so I am probably stating the obvious, but I'll say it anyway just in case:

Default port is 6881, kind of a low number quite likely throttled by your ISP, did you try changing it? (in Downloads/Bittorrent/Settings)

And secondly, in the same place (under Bandwidth Management), did you set your maximum upload rate to something which is a reasonable fraction of your bandwidth? Lots of computer torrent clients do that automatically, so some people don't even know you should do that. If you've got, say, 4 megabit asynchronous dsl, you should set the upload to one megabit. If you don't, you'll lose a lot of download bandwidth once your upload stream oversaturates. Of course, if you've got cable internet this is irrelevant...

For your info, I am actually getting better max download speeds with my DNS323 than with my desktop azureus client...It's amazingly cool not having to keep my computer powered on to get torrents.

ya, i done all the things said above.

i've also changed the incoming port, actually the same as the one i was using on my desktop (now i don;t BT on the desktop, so there will be no conflict to with the NAS )

May i ask what's us average d/l speed on using the NAS?

thx

I figured you'd tried all of that already, but I had to mention just in case...If your router has UPNP you could try that...

My average DL speed is 40k/s; which probably seems slow to you but that's basically saturating my crappy Third World ADSL connection.

By the way, annoying fact: every time you reboot the box, whatever bandwidth throttles you've set will be reset to infinite. In other words since I have slow ADSL I have to set the upload limit to around 4k to prevent the BT from throttling off my download speed. Every time the router reboots I have to set the upload speed again. I guess the settings are software controlled and not written to a file anywhere.
