Large file transfers...revisited

First off, I've read everything I can find on the large file transfer problem that some have experienced with the G600.

Like others, I can't copy files that are between 2 and 4GB in size from my Windows machine to the G600.  Larger and smaller files work with no probelms.  The best description and fix for this know problem is described in the following post in the 323 forum: http://dns323.kood.org/forum/t233-2GB%2 … side!.html

My question is, has somebody done a similar fix for the G600?  Or is there a hacked firmware that addresses this?  Or another workaround, perhaps with easy to follow instructions for a user who isn't so wise in the ways of Linux or compiling source code....

Thanks.

Re: Large file transfers...revisited

I've learned a little more about this problem....It apparently stems from the fact that Windows Vista has enabled Fast Queries, which older versions of Samba don't handle properly. (I've confirmed that I don't have this problem on my XP machine).  There's no obvious way to tweak Vista to disable Fast Queries.

However, any new version of Samba will correct this problem, but unless I'm missing something, it appears no one has compiled it for the G600.  DLink definitely has no plans to upgrade it since it's been almost 2 years since there last firmware update.

Maybe it's just time to toss my G600 in the trash heap?
