file attributes

I have a number of directories on my Win Xp pro system that contain CDs ripped with windows media player.
Media Player creates a number of hidden files in these directories for the album art.
If I copy these directories over to NAS these hidden files becomes visible.

This behaviour can be easily reporoduced by setting the hidden checkbox on a file (Right click a file, select properties).
Then copy this file over. Right click the file on the NAS and the hidden checkbox is now unselected.

Anyone else experienced this or have any ideas what the cause is??

Thanks

Re: file attributes

Most likely because Linux EXT2 doesn't use the same files attributes as Windows FAT32/NTFS..

Re: file attributes

Hidden attributes can be mapped on Samba. A bit of editing smb.conf.
