Not understanding any of the basic commands and file structure won't help you in the long run. Learn (google search) on the commands and read a basic tutorial.  You need to know how to change directories, move files, edit files, run commands, etc.

Put in the full path to the file
funpkg -i /{{{{path}}}}/curl-7.18.1.tgz

I have no way to guess where it is downloaded to on your system. "Z:"  is meaningless as it may map to the root (/) or may not. It all depends on your configuration. As I haven't performed a default install in 3+ years, I do no recall where it maps.

Personally, I use a folder /ffp/dl-packages that I put all my downloads into and rsync between my 3 DNS323's.

Some hints and a starting point:
"mv" is a move file/folder command
"cp" is for copying files
"df" displays disk free space
"ls" lists files/folders
"nano" and "vi" are common text file editors
"cd" is used to change directories
"pwd" prints the current directory

You can often either use --help to display syntax information or type "man {{command}}".

Example
cp --help
or
man cp

Thanks for your help.

I'm a learn on the job kinda guy- it's how I learned to code html, js, css, php etc. Command line is another story, although I have touched on batch files. That's windows though. Personally, I learn from seeing working syntax.

Z is volume 1 in my DNS-323, a JBOD drive architecture.

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

You will find what you need to resolve this in the postings above. Use the "cd" and "ls" commands to find the download then run the "funpkg" command.

funpkg -i /{{{{path}}}}/curl-7.18.1.tgz

example

funpkg -i /mnt/HD_a2/curl-7.18.1.tgz

3 * (DNS-323 with 2 * 2TB) = 12TB Running FW v1.08 & FFP v0.5

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

Hi guys, I recently encountered a problem with transmission. Hope someone here can help me.

I've been using transmission on my dns 320l for a long time and it worked fine. However, downloads slowed to a crawl(at 0 or only 1 seed connected) yesterday, where transmission is unable to connect to any seeds even after detecting them. The problem is not with the torrent for it works perfectly when using utorrent on my computer. Most of the time, the following error, Tracker error: Tracker gave HTTP response code 0 (No Response)  (announcer.c:999) would appear.

The only other error I see in the transmission log is

"[17:48:22.009] UDP Failed to set receive buffer: requested 4194304, got 225280 (tr-udp.c:78)
[17:48:22.010] UDP Please add the line "net.core.rmem_max = 4194304" to /etc/sysctl.conf (tr-udp.c:83)
[17:48:22.010] UDP Failed to set send buffer: requested 1048576, got 225280 (tr-udp.c:89)
[17:48:22.010] UDP Please add the line "net.core.wmem_max = 1048576" to /etc/sysctl.conf (tr-udp.c:94)"

Not sure if this was the cause, but my router was turned off accidentally while the DNS was downloading files. The above problem surfaced afterwhich. I have tried reinstalling different versions of transmission from 2.76 to 2.82 with no change in result. Anyone has any idea what's happening?

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

Those messages are normal as the buffer amounts are hardcoded and the default is less than the values requested. You can update those buffers. That usually won't cause an issue with speed, though.

It is possible that your ports changed on reboot or dht needs to repopulate. Do you use UPnP or a hardcoded port?

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

I use a static port to ensure it stays open on my router/firewall. Up to you, really.

Kylek's site seems to be down for some time. Is there a way for someone to upload transmission for arm 2.82 file?

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

You almost for sure need the 0.7/arm version.

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

No shell

That is a bug in the startscript. In /etc/passwd the user 'nobody' has no shell, but apparently it has on a D-Link. The startscript starts transmission as user 'nobody' for security reasons.

You can edit the startscript (install nano (slacker -i nano) and execute 'nano /ffp/start/transmission.sh'), There is a line

Code:

su nobody -c "whatever command to start transmission"

Change that in

Code:

su nobody -s /ffp/bin/sh -c "whatever command to start transmission"

This tells su to once override the shell definition of nobody to /ffp/bin/sh

#!/ffp/bin/sh

if [ -d /mnt/HD/HD_a2 ]; then
   TRANSMISSION_HOME=/mnt/HD/HD_a2/.transmission-daemon
else
   TRANSMISSION_HOME=/mnt/HD_a2/.transmission-daemon
fi

name="transmission-daemon"
command="/ffp/bin/$name"
start_cmd="transmission_start"
stop_cmd="transmission_stop"
status_cmd="transmission_status"
user=nobody
su_cmd="/ffp/bin/su"

}

transmission_stop()
{
        echo "Stopping $name"
                /ffp/bin/killall -SIGINT $name
}

transmission_status()
{
        _pids=$(pidof $name)
        if test -n "$_pids"; then
                echo "$name is running"
        else
                echo "$name not running"
        fi
}

run_rc_command "$1"
) Which i change ? and after what i do to save it? Sorry about the question i never worked in linux. If you can tell me step by step i really appreciate. Thank you.

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

It's the line

Code:

  $su_cmd $user -c "$command -g ${TRANSMISSION_HOME} -e ${TRANSMISSION_HOME}/$name.log"

which should be

Code:

  $su_cmd $user -s /ffp/bin/sh -c "$command -g ${TRANSMISSION_HOME} -e ${TRANSMISSION_HOME}/$name.log"

After having edited you can exit nano with Ctrl-X, and it will ask if you want to save the file.

Do you have the files to install transmission and/or minidlna ?

If yes, could you please share with us? Google drive maybe.

Thanks!
