if possible putting bit torrent into volume 2 ??

My volume 1 is a raid 1 for important backup, and volume 2 (JBOD) for media share.
The new firmware automatically (blindly) put the BT directory into volume 1, which i don't prefer.

Does anyone know any easy way to get bt downloaded into vol 2 please help?  THANKS A LOT.

Re: if possible putting bit torrent into volume 2 ??

You probably cannot do it easily, but easily is a relative term.  The scripts that load the BT client look for it specifically on HD_a2 and if it is not there, then on HD_b2.  Telnet into the device and see if the JBOD (/dev/md1) is mounted on /mnt/HD_b2.  If it is, you might be able to move the BT directory over to HD_b2.  The scripts should find it there.

Wouldn't be easier to make a symbolic link?

Re: if possible putting bit torrent into volume 2 ??

Sorry. I sent the message like a response to bk041 and forgot about the question.

I think you could possible make a symbolic link to the BT folder to any other folder. You will still see the BT folder inside Volume_1 but it could be actually somewhere else.

From a command line you could try...

'ln -s /mnt/HD_b2/FolderYouWantTheBT /mnt/HD_a2/BT'

You should keep in mind that the BT folder that you now are creating, should contain the folders that are already inside the BT folder. It should be easier to first rename the folder, and then copy it to another location.

Warning: I have no idea what this could do to your downloads so I should try this with no torrents pending.

Well, the scripts look for the program on HD_a2 first, then if it is not found, then on HD_b2, so there should be no need for the link.

Yeah, I am assuming he wants the folder not in the root, or with another name.

Re: if possible putting bit torrent into volume 2 ??

Well, I just did a little more research, and you cannot move the BT client.  The parts of the script for having it on another location are remarked out and it was to HD_a4, not b4 (I was confusing it with another script).  A link will not work, as there are links which get created via the startup for it to work.  To move it, what will need to be done is move all the file to the location you want and then create a fun_plug start script modelled after the one found in /sys/crfs/sbin/linkscript.  This should work for you.

If it is just the BT folder and not the actual BT program you are concerned about (I just went back and read through the thread again), then you problably want to use a mount command to mount the location you want the files to an empty BT directory on HD_a2.  I do not think a link will work here either, as many program can distinguish between a link file and a real directory.
