Open the passive ports in your firewall/router.

Are you connecting locally or remote? To which ftp-server, d-link's or proftpd?

Only opened 21, are there others?

local network this morning and to the built in d-link (I presume, I haven't installed anything, I have 1.5 firmware)

Re: Can't LIST ftp directory with FileZilla

I got the same problem.

In Passive Mode:

[R] Opening data connection IP: 218.212.x.x PORT: 65506
[R] Data Socket Error: Connection timed out
[R] List Error

In Port Mode:

[R] Listening on PORT: 4244, Waiting for connection.
[R] PORT 172,18,x,x,16,148
[R] 500 I won't open a connection to 172.18.x.x(only to 137.132.x.x)
[R] List Error

For the passive mode, I have forwarded 65501 to 65510 to my static IP DNS-323.
