Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Hi,
I want to allow my DNS-323 to be correctly used for secure user data so that one user cannot see the data from another user from within a Windows Server 2003 environment. Usual thing, I suppose. I've looked up the 'BetterSamba' link and thanks for darx for the post he did about a year ago. This is, therefore, probably a message out to anybody who has sucessfully done what I need to do and has the patience to help me out - I'm going to need a bit of hand-holding on this.
Here's what I've done so far:
- Installed the fonz fun_plug from www.inreto.de (version 0.5), successfully configured the root user and added a password to it by following the instructions on the Wiki.
Actually that’s about it. I tried to follow the instructions in the ‘BetterSamba’ link but came unstuck at a couple of points. Firstly there is an instruction to get a copy of ‘secrets.tdb’ from another Linux box. Well, I don’t have one and have no idea how to get one of these .tdb files without asking for it here. If anybody's feeling generous then I'd be much obliged.
Secondly, the very next instruction is to shutdown samba. How do I do that? Come to think of it, what is samba in the first place.
Thirdly, and because I pressed on regardless, I had to issue a ‘net join’ command from the telnet session. This was met with a very blank response from the DND-323 telling me it had no idea what I was going on about. Unfortunately neither did I as I was just following instructions.
Anyway, if anybody has done this then I’d really like to hear from them.
