Transmission 1.33/1.34 problem: web interface freeze, CPU @ 100%

hi

after several weeks of perfect use, transmission 1.33 has stopped working.. namely when i access the web interface at http://192.168.x.x:9091/transmission/web/ most of the page loads (minus any torrent info) then freezes and eventually gives up the ghost. on connecting to the nas via telnet i run 'top', CPU for the transmission daemon is almost 100%. sample below:

PID  PPID USER     STAT   VSZ %MEM %CPU COMMAND
1701  1700 nobody   R    1028m1696%  99% /ffp/bin/transmission-daemon -f

1452     1 root     S      780   1%   0% op_server 3 3 3

i have tried uninstalling 1.33 and then installing 1.34 using these commands:

funpkg -r Transmission-1.33-ffp0.5.tgz

funpkg -i Transmission-1.34-ffp0.5.tgz

reboot

/ffp/start/transmission.sh start

I have already installed curl-7.18.1.tgz and uclibc-0.9.29-4.tgz when i originally (successfully) installed transmission 1.33 a few weeks ago.

futher background info:

i had two torrents seeding when the problem arose, 1 approx 4GB, and another of approx 30Gb, both seeding. problem happened when trying to add a new torrent file. any help would be appreciated!

thx

tb

Re: Transmission 1.33/1.34 problem: web interface freeze, CPU @ 100%

Hi, I had the same problem last week. The only way I found to resolve it is to empty the "torrents" dir and "resume" dir in /.transmission-daemon .Then I re-add manually the torrent via the web interface. I also had two 35G+ torrents downloading when it appends. Big torrents may be the cause of this problem (?)

Re: Transmission 1.33/1.34 problem: web interface freeze, CPU @ 100%

This might be a bug that has already been fixed on the Transmission trunk (see here), but there isn't a new stable release by the developers available yet.
I have already a development build running on my machine without any major issues, I'll try to release a package tonight.

Re: Transmission 1.33/1.34 problem: web interface freeze, CPU @ 100%

As mentioned earlier I packaged a development build of Transmission which was checked out this afternoon. Go see if it fixes your problem with the hang + high CPU usage.

Disclaimer: This is to be seen as an unstable build, as it is unofficial and might contain bugs. Use at your own risk.

You can get the file here.

Have fun!
