Network share not available after restart

Hello,

i have a problem with my DNS-323 and im hoping someone can help me:

After every shutdown and restart of the box the network shares are not available in the windows neighborhood. I have to edit the shares everytime to make the server reload the configuration - then are the server is visible again... very anoying...
Firmware is 1.02b with Windows XP and Vista.

Thanks,

M.

Re: Network share not available after restart

Hi folks, just read about this issue in the wiki, so it seems there is no solutions for this by now... what a lousy piece of software on this nice box :-(

Re: Network share not available after restart

Try to telenet to it and issue 'smb restart' when it has booted, or map the drives using ip instead of name. \\192.168.0.121\Volume_1

Maybe I'm doing something wrong - but I can open Windows network places and not see my DNS323 shares because the unit is not powered on, reach out and push the front panel button, and either wait until the button stops flashing before refreshing network places, or repeatedly tap F5 to refresh network places, and once the DNS323 completes the boot process - the shares show up.

I use mine to transfer data between two separate networks - my test LAN and my production LAN - these networks use different ip address schemes and I have DHCP reservations configured for the unit on both networks.  Several times a day I power the unit down, change the network connection and power the unit back on - I just wait for it to come ready and I can read/write to the shares as necessary without opening the web interface.
