Twonky running in Debian Etch on DNS-323?

Hi,

I was curious if anyone has tried setting up TwonkyMedia within Debian Etch on the DNS-323 and if it works successfully?

To give some background for asking this, I've wanted to use my DNS-323 not only as a UPNP-AV server for my audio and video, but also for automatically downloading podcasts.  I've also wanted a UPNP client on there to automatically check for new media on the device every several hours (thus detecting any new podcasts and making them available).  Using its native UPNP support takes way too long to detect all of my media on the device if I configure it to check for media every several hours, so I installed TwonkyMedia on there using their Windows-based install client to add it to the DNS-323.

As for downloading podcasts, I also installed the Debian Etch 4.0 build referenced in the Wiki DNS-323 site (http://dev.skcserver.de/dns323/etch.tar).  Then within Debian Etch via chroot, I installed Podget as my application to automatically download podcasts (http://podget.sourceforge.net).

Both Debian Etch and TwonkyMedia (outside of Debian Etch) are loading in fun_plug upon startup of the DNS-323, and Podget runs within Debian Etch every few hours to check for new podcasts and download them automatically.  This setup works fine initially.  But then several days later, one of the hard drives becomes unaccessible due to this setup of both Debian Etch and TwonkyMedia running at the same time, and I have to power off the DNS-323 and power it back on.

Not being familiar with compiling code, I don't know how to compile Podget so that I can use it without having to run Debian Etch to do so.  Otherwise I would do it because the only reason I'm running Debian Etch is to use Podget.

With all of that said, can Twonky be installed within Debian Etch on the DNS-323, and will it work successfully?

Thanks,

Jeff

Re: Twonky running in Debian Etch on DNS-323?

I think I found the workaround to running Debian Etch and a podcast downloader within there that I've been looking for.

On the Wiki page, I saw the information on Optware and the various packages that can be installed via ipkg.  Looking at the Optware DNS-323 page (http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Optware/Dns323), I saw a package for Castget, a podcast downloader.

I think this setup is the workaround that I've been looking for instead of having to use Debian Etch and a podcast downloader within there, thus the problems when it runs at the same time with Twonkyvision.  I'll give this setup a try and see what happens.
