Unfortunately, I don't have a USB printer to set up as a network printer directly. However, I do have a USB to Parallel adapter that I've been using (which is essentially an external parallel port USB device) and I was wondering, has anyone tried something like this to use the network printer feature on the DNS-323? Ideally, I'd like to have it still interface with the web based frontend. Any thoughts on where I would start doing something like that?

I haven't tried it - but - I've done a fair amount of print server installations, and I don't see why it should not work.
I would first install the printer directly on the PC using the USB/parallel adapter and get it working, and then connect it to the DNS-323 and remap the printer port on the PC - create a new local port called \\<ip-address-of-DNS-323>\lp

Just an update in case anyone else wants to try this. The setup of a network printer using a USB to Parallel port dongle was flawless. I hooked the USB into the back, restarted the system, searched for the printer, installed the driver and I was working. No fuss at all... I'm quite amazed actually ^_^

Which USB to Parallel port dongle did you use?
Which Parallel printer did you use?
In case others may not have the initial success you experienced,
it would be good to know the details of this working solution.

Unfortunately the USB to Parallel adapter is rather generic. The "printer info" from the DNS-323 says:
Manufacturer: Prolific Technology Inc. Product: IEEE-1284 Controller
I know that it works on the principle that it's essentially a USB device that is a parallel port (ie, it is detected as a parallel port, it doesn't do a direct translation that just works with the parallel port if that makes sense).
The printer is a Kyocera Mita FS-1700, but it uses a standard printing interface.
I have had one small issue that on one of my computers if the printer is sleeping it won't wake up again properly, but I think that's more a computer problem than a problem with the setup. I haven't had much time to experiment with that yet though. It does work consistently from my main computer though.
