Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

I recently purchased and installed two WD green hard drive and setup as raid 1 on my 10/100 router network. I feel that the speeds are really slow when file transferring from my computer to the Dlink 323. On Windows Vista when I click on "more info" it shows 6.00mbs. What can I do to speed this up?
I will be upgrading the firmware to 1.06 soon. I am in the process of backing up my data before I do so. Then I will set my hard drives back to raid 0. I feel that raid 1 is not necessary for me. Thanks!

I would not recommend RAID0 (or JBOD for that matter) - there is no performance advantage to be gained by using RAID0 and with either RAID0 or JBOD you run the risk of losing all your data if either drive fails.
To deal with the speed issue - 6.00mbps - assuming you mean MegaBytes/sec - it's a little below average, the best you'll get on a 10/100 mbps network is around 10 MB/sec, but many things can impact the throughput.

Thanks for the reply
I understand that I run the risk of losing my data if I run raid 0 but like your signature says raid 1 is not a back up. I rather have the full 2tb of hard drive space and use another source as a backup. How do you guys back up your Dlink 323?
Also which funplug are you using and how do I update the firmware to 1.06?

Here is my current setup
Dlink 323 NAS on 10/100 network - changing to raid 0 soon
2x 1TB WD green hard drives (2TB total)
Can I use an external hard drive as a off site backup? I can hook up an external hard drive to the Dlink and this will increase the storage capacity of my setup? Lets say if I hook up another 1TB hard drive (externally) will the NAS unit detect it?
Is there a way to setup automatic backup to the external unit?

No, not without dealing with fun_plug.
