SFTP and users rights

So, did anyone get SFTP to work correctly?
I have read many threads and no solution to the problem.

My SFTP users can cd out of the SFTP and access my system files.
Can i restrict them to the ftp root dir in some way that doesn't involve installing debian?

Re: SFTP and users rights

It's "supposed" to be as simple as using ChrootDirectory in your sshd_config but I couldn't get it to work in the time I spent with it.

Would be nice for sure

Re: SFTP and users rights

i experienced the same as madpenguin mentioned ..
there is a setting "chrootdirectory", but i could not get it to work ..

so i switched to ftps (encrypted password & data) with chroot setting --> proftps from optware
