Is there any way to unformat a drive?

Hi!

I installed a new 1TB Samsung HDD into my unit. I partitioned previously the drive for linux (83)  with ffp and than made the ext2 filesystem and copied a bunch of files. After I inserted the DNS asked me to format the newly installed drive? I first skipped and could see the drive if I mounted it, but the unit had no knowledge about it. So I decided to format it. It told me, that my first drive won't loose data. It formated it, restarted and that asked me again, to format the drive. Skipped to check what happened, but the second drive was still not there. OK. Formated again, but this time actually my first drive was formated...
My question is: is there a way to restore the data from the first drive? Would be nice, even if there is nothing unrepeatable, but still...
