upnp and xbmc

I'm having trouble connecting xbox media center with the DNS-323. the problem is that I don't know if it's the xbmx that's failing or the DNS-323 that's not working correctly. Is there any way I can test it from my computer on the LAN without installing a media player?

Re: upnp and xbmc

Hi,

I have got the XBMC seeing the dns-323 however all I get is 3 directories
Music
Video
Pictures

They are all blank.

I can play the media via browsing the workgroup and using SAMBA but I would like to get uPnP to work.

What exactly directory structure do I need to get this to work ?
I created a video directory off root (/) to see if this worked and it did not.

Regards

Re: upnp and xbmc

Did you make sure that once you set the UPNP AV directory to your media that you hit the Refresh button the Web GUI? This is required to build in the UPNP AV index file.

Re: upnp and xbmc

Yup,

Tried that still blank.
I am thinking of getting a uPnP free player to troubleshoot this.

Re: upnp and xbmc

I use with xbmc... just use SMB shares:

i.e. //myip/Volume_1/videos

add it to your xbmc ini file under SMB I think in format

SMB:/myip/Volume_1/videos

etc...

much faster than uPnP anyhow smile
