FTP Server Non-Default Port Forward issue

Please help!
DNS-323 is running 1.06. I have a WGT624 ver 3 netgear range max. I am trying to utilize the non default port (usually 21) for the ftp server. When I set the FTP sever to listen to 21, and forward 20 and 21 from the router, all works well. When I change it to, for instance, 20202 and change the router and client, Filezilla, for communication through 20202. I am able to log in, but showing the directory fails, and I get the message below:

Response:    200 PORT command successful
Command:    LIST
Response:    150 Connecting to port 40202
Response:    226-ASCII
Response:    226-Options: -l
Response:    226 1 matches total
Error:    Connection timed out
Error:    Failed to retrieve directory listing

Do I need to open anything else on the router? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
G

Re: FTP Server Non-Default Port Forward issue

Is the client behind a NAT router/firewall?

If yes, try connecting it directly to the internet without a firewall (and that includes disabling the Windows firewall) or put in the DMZ of the NAT firewall (and again, disable the Windows firewall) - does it work now?

Re: FTP Server Non-Default Port Forward issue

Client is behind a NAT router/firewall.
DMZ set to client computer. Firewalls all off. SPI Firewall in router disabled.
Still the same.

Re: FTP Server Non-Default Port Forward issue

Have you tried a direct connection?  ie Client directly connected to the modem?
