CPU load too high?

I just got the 323, and did the telnet hack and was taking a look at TOP and its showing as the CPU as 100%. The two processes taking the load are:

Mem: 59668K used, 2236K free, 0K shrd, 12672K buff, 32024K cached
CPU:  99% usr   0% sys   0% nice   0% idle   0% io   0% irq   0% softirq
Load average: 2.00 2.00 1.83
PID  PPID USER     STAT   VSZ %MEM %CPU COMMAND
1868  1867 root     R     1248   2%  50% inotify_itune
1876  1875 root     R     1224   2%  50% inotify_upnp
2409  2403 root     R     1360   2%   0% top
1678     1 root     S      476   1%   0% fancontrol
1667  1665 root     S     7780  13%   0% ./bt --daemon-loop
1663  1662 root     S     7780  13%   0% ./bt --daemon-loop
1665  1663 root     S     7780  13%   0% ./bt --daemon-loop

Is this normal??

Re: CPU load too high?

not sure to which programm these threads are belonging, but the DNS does not support inotify. That might be the problem.

Re: CPU load too high?

Those 2 process belong to the build in iTunes server and uPnP server.  Do you have a big directory with media files that is scanned? The processor usage should drop when the scan is finished.

Re: CPU load too high?

I've only gotten the unit less than aweek ago. The only thing I have on it, is media files for now(avi's).  At the time I did the above capture I wasn't doing anything on the unti. What I may try is reflash the firmware and see if that fixes anything.

Same here, yesterday I upgraded my ch3snas firmware from 1.04RC5 to 1.05b1 (Latest official firmware from Conceptronic.)
The movie folder I think it's scanning is approx 18GB in size.

Is it normal for inotify_upnp to stress the cpu this big and long?

edit: The crazy thing is that during this so called scanning I don't see my HDD leds flashing. How can this be?  hmm

Re: CPU load too high?

I've got a 323 running 1.07, and I also notice that inotify_upnp is using 99% when it's turned on.

Is there a refresh interval that's improperly set maybe?  Is there a config accessible for it?  It doesn't have any disk activity, it just eats all my CPU time.

I have ffp 0.5 installed, ssh enabled, and transmission 1.72 installed.  inotify_upnp runs crazy whether or not I have the transmission daemon running.  Has anyone figured anything out about this?  Is there perhaps an alternative server that can be run in place of the stock one?  I do so enjoy streaming to my 360.

I end up turning off UPNP AV and ITune on the web admin and use MediaTomb. The samba speed is doubled now.
