windows 2003 r2 server

Hello to all,
I have a small bussiness and have now purchased a server with windows 2003 r2 installed but as I have found out the basic dns providied back up software is not compatibale.

How (please) can I configure the dns to auto back upspecific folders, or do I eed to buy another software programme to load on the server to back up to the dns.

Thanks in advance sorry I am not very clever with this sort of stuff

Re: windows 2003 r2 server

Hey Goose,

You should run backup on the server and not on the DNS-323. If you want to save money use the Microsoft's embedded backup utility, it can be scheduled using a predefined parameters set and in general works fine unless you have an Exchange server on the same machine.

Then again I would not recommend this solution to any of my clients, DNS-323 is a nice toy but not fit for a production environment. It is too fiddly and unreliable. Maybe in six months time they will get the FW right and I may reconsider my stand.
