Free Space

Hi,
I bought 2 new WD Caviar Green 1TB drives for my DNS-323 and have just finished copying all my data from my old drives to my new ones and setting up the daily copy from A to B, and I have noticed that in the web interface there is a difference in free space on the two drives of ~8mb. Is this normal? Also there seems to be some files in the ffp folder not getting copied of ~4mb, not that this matters it just seemed weird that it wasnt copying everthing from that folder. With my last drives (2x500GB) the used/unused space always matched up within 1mb after doing an rsync. Is this 8mb variance normal? PS. If I look at used space using Windows, all the folders are the same size on each drive except ffp.

HARD DRIVE INFO :

Total Drive(s):     2
Volume Name:     Volume_1
Total Hard Drive Capacity:     983454 MB
Used Space:     495892 MB
Unused Space:     487561 MB
Volume Name:     Volume_2
Total Hard Drive Capacity:     983454 MB
Used Space:     495900 MB
Unused Space:     487553 MB

Cheers

Cameron

Re: Free Space

I think there was a file system error - ran part of an fsck then decided i would start again copying from my old drive but noticed when i switched on after fsck used space was the same for both, but will recopy to be sure data is ok

Re: Free Space

I have reformatted and recopied data and there is still 5mb variance between drives, which using du i have narrowed down to a variance in the size of the ffp folder between the two drives and the size of the ffp.log file. Does this sound normal, are my drives safe? It seems ok but I would be grateful if someone who knew about this could confirm this so I know my data is safe.

Thanks

Cameron
