Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

update from funpkg kills config files

when i ran the funpkg update it removed the config file from /etc
Is there a way to restore this file without reinstalling the original fun_plug package?
I tried copying the file to /etc by ftp but get 'denied permission

Re: update from funpkg kills config files

Yup, I seem to have lost the profile. The prompt is reset etc.

I fooled around with manually creating a new profile file and now can't get access with telnet or ssh. Smooth...

Re: update from funpkg kills config files

please check for /ffp/etc/profile.new
if it's there, rename it (i.e. remove .new from it): cd /ffp/etc; mv profile.new profile
it's best to upgrade funpkg first, before upgrading other packages.

Re-enabling telnet is easy. http://dns323.kood.org/howto:ffp#the_root_user (near the end of that section)

Re: update from funpkg kills config files

The last thing I did before I lost contact with the NAS was rename "profile.new" to "profile". I tried the telnet restart fix from the page you suggested too and get the following:

"Trying 192.168.0.199...
telnet: connect to address 192.168.0.199: Connection refused
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host"

Re: update from funpkg kills config files

Must be another problem, the re-enabled plain telnet doesn't read etc/profile. You may want to check ffp.log for hints.

Re: update from funpkg kills config files

Sorted out: the funplug tgz with the telnet fix was getting broken during download to my mac. The log showed "invalid tgz magic" whenit tried to unpack. I downloaded and reloaded a fresh file and it worked.

Thanks for your help.
